I am trying to translate the song Deshacer del Mundo by Heroes del Silencio. I believe I understand the rest of it, but there is a specific part in the beginning which baffles me.
The lyrics are:
Empezar porque s铆
Y acabar no s茅 cuando
El azul me da cielo
Y el iris los cambios.
The grammatical structure feels strange to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Help with a difficult Spanish translation?
Empezar porque s铆
Y acabar no s茅 cuando
El azul me da cielo
Y el iris los cambios.
Beginning (or to begin) just because
And ending (or to end) I don't know when
Blue gives me sky
And the rainbow the changes.
You are right, the grammar isn't the typical structure. They are musicians, so they used somewhat of a musician/poem like prose. You know, when they try to be weird and different, just because. I translated it to an almost literal way, but I can explain to you what they mean.
Empezar porque s铆
Since I don't have the rest of the lyrics, I assume he's talking about beginning something with someone just because, for no reason at all.
Y acabar no s茅 cuando
Here, he is pretty much saying, "When to end it? I don't know". He doesn't know when he'll end that relationship or whatever he started.
El azul me da cielo
He is saying that the colour blue reminds him or makes him think of the sky.
Y el iris los cambios.
The band is Spanish, so I assume in Spain they use iris as short for arcoiris (rainbow). So, he is using the last sentence as a base reference to finish up by saying: [Blue gives me sky] And the rainbow (makes me think of) the changes (or change).
I hope this helps :)

And end I don't know when.
