Spanish translation on numbers in the thousands and the number 10,000?

What I want to understand is, how do you write numbers in the thousands. What are the basic rules for writing numbers in the thousands? When do you put a "i" or a "y" between words? Could you give me some examples of numbers in the thousands up to 10,000? Could you also show me how to write the number 10,000?

Thanks for answering!

Use "i" ONLY for "veinte..."

21 veintiuno

21.000 veinti煤n mil

24.100 veinticuatro mil cien

29.054 veintinueve mil cincuenta y cuatro

Use "y" for the decades ("decenas") from 30 to 90

31.000 treinta y un mil

46.000 cuarenta y seis mil

289.512 doscientos ochenta y nueve mil quinientos doce

No "y" for the hundreds, thousands, millions

5.341.500 cinco millones trescientos cuarenta y un mil quinientos (a you see, only the "y" for 41)
10,000 is diez mil

If you're dealing with a number in the thousands, you just put like the number infront of mil

un mil

dos mil

tres mil

and so on. If you're trying to say like 2,100 then you put a y in.

dos mil y cien
